Five-day sub-regional workshop takes place at DAM

DHAKA : Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) in collaboration with Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO, UNESCO Dhaka, UNICEF and Bangladesh ECD Network (BEN), organised a sub-regional workshop titled "Capacity Building in Designing Com-munity Based Integrated Early Childhood Care and Develop-ment Progr-amme."

The inaugural ceremony was held on September 24 at the auditorium in DAM Head Office.

The workshop was presided over by Kazi Rafiqul Alam, President, DAM and Mohammad Asif-uz-Zaman, Secretary, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education was present as the chief guest. Md. Monjur Hossain, Secretary, Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO and Sun Lie, Head of Education, UNESCO Dhaka Office were present as special guests.

Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, Emeritus Professor, BRAC University and also the Chairman of BEN presented the keynote paper. Shahnewaz Khan, CEO of CINED, DAM gave the orientation of the workshop. Dr Khawja Shamsul Huda, Programme Director, DAM, delivered the welcome speech.

Through this training workshop, capacity of education managers of four sub-regional countries in designing and implementing community based integrated early childhood care and development (ECCD) programme will be developed. In addition, conceptualisation of importance and quality element of ECCD programme, strategies for enhancing co-mmunity invo-lvement in the ECCD programme and development of ECCD programme fra-meworks and programme implementation strategies will also be discussed in the workshop. Twenty senior level education programme managers and trainers concerned with early child development from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal are attending in the training workshop.
