Sairu Hill Resorts, unspoilt nature all around

Bandarban : A long time ago there was a beautiful young Mro maiden called Sairu. Daughter of a mountain chieftain she had passionately fallen in love with a young man, the son of the chief of another hill tribe.

When the elders came to know of the affair, they hurriedly got the young man married off with a girl from his tribe. Heartbroken, Sairu would roam the forest alone until one day she was seen no more!

Two trees that grew entwined on the hills at Sairu Point is said to symbolise her love. Sairu Hill Resort, draws its name from this mythical love story and the logo from the two entwined trees, Mostofa Kamal, General Manager, Sairu Hill Resorts said while sharing the sad story of Sairu.

Sairu Hill Resorts, which soft opened on July 7, 2016, has already become popular among tourists. The resort was designed by Mustafa Amin, Managing Director, Domus, one of the renowned architectural consultancy firms of the country. He is also one of the partners of the resort.

Kamal said, the concept was to design a contemporary resort following the 'Less is More' principle. The master plan was conceived by being sensitive towards the site and surroundings. Most of the structures have been built on steel stilts to minimise any change in the natural contours.

The existing trees have been left untouched and more plants were added when shaping the landscape of the resort. The spaces were designed to obtain maximum panoramic views taking full advantage of the topography while including the luxuries of a modern-day-resort. Local materials were used to achieve the rustic outlook which blends with nature.

There are ten 600-square-feet Premium guestrooms, each with an attached bath, a private balcony, a green terrace having a sea, river and hill view. They are furnished with a king size bed, a reading corner, closet space, multimedia facility, perfect for couples or a family or four persons.

Six 570-square-feet Executive guestrooms, each have an attached bath, a private balcony with a green terrace having a sea and hill view. They are furnished with a king size bed, closet space and multimedia facility, ideal for couples can enjoy a pleasant stay.

Tea/Coffee is complimentary at Premium and Executive guestrooms.

Each of the eight 340 square feet Shangu View guestrooms has an attached bath, a private balcony with Shangu river and hill view. They are small and cozy furnished with a single bed and a bunk bed, a reading table, closet space and multimedia facility.

Some of the rooms are located in a manner so that physically impaired guests can go to their rooms after getting down from the vehicle, he said.
