: Sri Lanka is hosting the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual Summit 2017 which includes the PATA Annual General Meeting and the PATA Youth Symposium from May18-21.
The four-day event will be held at the Jetwing Blue Hotel, Negombo, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB).
This year's Annual Summit 2017 brings together thought leaders and industry professionals from around the world under the theme "Disruption. Innovation. Transformation: The Future of Tourism".
As part of the PAS2017 programme in partnership with the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) will also host the UNWTO/PATA Ministerial Debate which brings together Tourism Ministers and leading industry experts to address thought-provoking issues.
During the half-day programme, industry leaders and government representatives will discuss "The shift to Recognised Sustainability Leadership" and "The sharing economy in travel and tourism", which will be a highlighted part of the event in order to benefit the economic and tourist sector.
This high profile event, one of the major events which take place annually in the tourism calendar, will be a great opportunity for Sri Lanka, especially as Sri Lanka is expecting to bring home 2. 5 million tourists this year and to boost the tourist sector, said SLTPB.
Sri Lanka is now going through a rapid growth of tourist arrivals, especially during the peak seasons, bringing an increased tourist expenditure.
The event will showcase a distinguished line of speakers and panelists including Dr. Taleb Rifai, Secretary General, World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), Andrew Chan, Founder and CEO of ACI HR Solutions, Andrew Jones, Chairman, PATA and Hiran Cooray, Chairman, Jetwing Hotels. These experienced veterans of travel and tourism trade will be ready to share their in-depth knowledge and analytical skills to make them applicable for the country's tourism growth.
